Cup Therapy / Myofascial Decompression

Myofascial decompression with cupping involves placing plastic cups on the body to decompress regions of soft tissue adhesions to restore mobility and ease of function. While its roots date back thousands of years, it was recently popularized by Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps as he advocated its use for sports performance. At Mosaic Physical Therapy, cup therapy may be used to alleviate pain and facilitate healing or increase your range of motion and performance. After several cups are strategically placed on your body, you will perform simple active motions to help mobilize the tissue and re-educate a healthier movement pattern.
